Whitefox Technologies renews agreement with Brazilian engineering group
London, 14 January 2011:
On January 10 Whitefox Technologies renewed its collaboration agreement with Brazilian engineering company PROENG - Projetos e Desenvolvimento de Equipamentos S/S Ltda. The two companies have been working together since 2008 on ethanol dehydration plants based on sugar cane for producers in South America and the Caribbean.
Whitefox and Proeng have adapted Whitefox’ membrane-based process to sugar cane in order to maximise the efficiencies gained from using membranes in the dehydration phase. The benefits that can be provided to the ethanol producer include reductions in steam, electricity and water requirements, which in turn lead to significant increases in the output of green electricity to be sold to the grid from waste biomass (bagasse).
Whitefox’ Gillian Harrison says: “Both companies are excited about the prospects for the ethanol sector in South America. As the regional economies continue to expand, their energy needs increase; governments are seeking to maximise the output of green fuels and green electricity. There are great opportunities for those engineering companies that use the latest technologies to drive efficiencies in production.”
Whitefox and Proeng have seen renewed demand since the impact of the recession has begun to subside. Companies that put projects on hold during the credit crunch are now re-starting their engineering activities.
